Poland offers a multitude of parks and nature reserves whose protagonists, not yet exploited by mass tourism, are the forests, the northern lakes, the southern mountains and the protected rivers. Historic city centers often have squares, pedestrian streets, red brick cathedrals, and well-restored historic buildings. These areas contrast with the peripheral neighborhoods built during the communist era and full of identical housing blocks.
